Physiotherapy
As an adjunct to our care, we also offer moist heat therapy, cryotherapy, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and therapeutic exercises.
Functional Movement Screen
The FMS is a grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. Once identified, the most beneficial corrective exercises can be given to restore mechanically sound movement patterns.
The FMS score can then be used to track progress and reinforce proper movement and strength building.
Kinesio Taping
Traditional athletic taping is used to stabilize and brace for prevention and treatment of sporting injuries. Kinesio taping or Kinesiology taping was designed to alleviate pain and improve the soft tissue healing as well as facilitate function without the restrictions of traditional athletic tape. It promotes proprioception, reduces muscle fatigue, improves muscle facilitation, reduces swelling and improves lymphatic drainage and blood flow.
Chiropractic Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Acupuncture is a minimally invasive, alternative form of treatment that has been used to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.
Dry needling is a form on non-meridian acupuncture where a thin acupuncture needle is inserted into a myofascial trigger point or injured muscle or connective tissue to decrease pain and stimulate the healing process.
I have found in practice that the combination of both dry needling and acupuncture has been quite effective in helping resolve muscular and myofascial injuries.
Myofascial Release Techniques
Tissue adhesions typically form as a result of repetitive overuse. In addition to the acupuncture/needling, we utilize many forms of myofascial release to help reduce the tissue adhesions restricting full muscle function:
